Funding Your Wallet

Treechat runs on Bitcoin SV (BSV), which powers the platform’s micropayment system. To send upvalue (tips) to other users and earn BSV for your content, you’ll need to fund your Treechat wallet.

What is Bitcoin SV (BSV)?

Bitcoin SV (Satoshi Vision) is a cryptocurrency that enables fast, low-cost transactions. Treechat uses BSV for:

  • Upvalue - Tipping other users for quality content
  • Earnings - Receiving tips from users who appreciate your posts
  • On-chain posting - Publishing public content to the blockchain

Getting Bitcoin SV

Before you can fund your Treechat wallet, you need to acquire some BSV. Here are recommended wallets and exchanges:

Funding Your Treechat Wallet

Once you have BSV in one of the above wallets:

Step 1: Get Your Treechat Wallet Address

  1. Log in to Treechat
  2. Click on your profile or wallet icon
  3. Find your BSV wallet address (a long string starting with 1 or 3)
  4. Copy this address

Step 2: Send BSV to Treechat

  1. Open your BSV wallet (RockWallet, Exodus, or Orange Gateway)
  2. Select “Send” or “Transfer”
  3. Paste your Treechat wallet address
  4. Enter the amount of BSV you want to transfer
  5. Confirm the transaction

Step 3: Wait for Confirmation

  • BSV transactions are typically confirmed within minutes
  • Your balance will update in Treechat once the transaction is confirmed
  • Check your Treechat wallet to see the updated balance

How Much Should I Fund?

BSV amounts on Treechat are small since upvalue (tips) are typically just a few cents. Consider:

  • $5-10 USD in BSV - Good starting amount for tipping and experimenting
  • $20-50 USD in BSV - Comfortable amount for regular users
  • More - If you plan to tip frequently or run promotional campaigns

Remember: When you receive upvalue from others, your balance will grow over time.

Transaction Fees

  • BSV network fees: Extremely low (typically fractions of a cent)
  • Treechat platform fee: 15% of upvalue transactions
    • 85% goes to the content creator
    • 15% goes to Treechat for platform maintenance
